Capacity

The main hall is suitable for small- to medium-scale concerts and parties with a maximum of 350 standing guests. The hall features a permanent stage measuring 10 by 4 metres, a bar and a state-of-the-art lighting system. For live music evenings, MAX usually specifies a time slot from 9.00 pm to 1.00 am.

History

MAX opened on 13 January 2001 as the MAX Teen Centre on the site of the former Madonna youth centre. The foundation behind the venue subsequently retained the site as a music venue with a wide-ranging programme of live music, tribute nights and dance parties.

Location

The building is situated on Olympiaweg in Alphen aan den Rijn, near Park Zegersloot and sports facilities. This makes it a functional location on the outskirts of the town: not right in the heart of the entertainment district, but convenient for visitors from the wider region.

Accessibility

The venue is easily accessible from the N11 and N207. Cars can park for free on the car park right outside the entrance, and there are additional parking options nearby. For visitors leaving late, travelling by car or taxi is therefore the most practical option.

Food and drink

There is a bar inside. MAX uses tokens for drinks at many events; coffee and tea are among the cheaper options, whilst soft drinks, beer, wine, craft beer and mixed drinks are also available.

There are various hotels, bed and breakfasts and other accommodation options available in Alphen aan den Rijn and the immediate vicinity. A wider range of accommodation options can also be found in neighbouring towns such as Bodegraven, Hazerswoude and Leiden.
